Hackathons for Good

A productive day at Microsoft Reactor on a cold wet January day. IT professionals working together to support non profit organization in the community. I chose to work with Dauntlez, an organization that teaches self-defense for women.

The project was to create a WordPress web site. Creating web sites involve hours of creativity, design, testing and editing. We accomplished critical tasks today to make the site operational. We had eleven volunteers plus the non-profit to share her ideas and what she needed for the new web site.

It is amazing how strangers pull together to share their expertise and knowledge to build a workable project in one day. It is a learning experience for everyone and a fuzzy feeling in the heart when adding value to your community. Breakfast and lunch were awesome! Thank you Democracy Lab and Seattle Tech for Good for organizing this event.
