Virtual Online Create-a-thon

A Virtual Online Create-a-thon is an virtual online event in which people work in groups on software or hardware projects, with the goal of creating a functioning product or process by the end of the event. Democracy Lab hosted a Create-a-thon on July 18, 2020 with over 100 volunteers, and 19 non-profit organizations. The General meeting and breakout sessions were online, Slack and Zoom platforms were used to communicate between team members.

I joined the Nonprofit Exchange Hub Team. This project is creating an Information Exchange Hub for local nonprofits to connect within the community and provide services to those who need assistance.

Our first task is creating a survey requesting feedback on what our community needs. Next, learn how can we address those needs. Not an easy task; this is an opportunity to be innovative. This is a time to step up and listen, design new tools and processes and continue learning from each other.

I am looking forward to working with my team, Nonprofit Exchange Hub, and the other Democracy Lab teams in future events.
