A Bee’s Workload

Summer is a beautiful time to enjoy flowers, fruits and vegetables. Thanks to bees, my neighborhood is vibrant in color and delicious treasures for the dining room table.

Bees are Hymenopterans, insects of the superfamily Apoidea. The most prominent known bee and important to humans, is the Apis mellifera , also known as the Western honey bee. Globally, there are more honey bees than other types of bee and pollinating insects. Bees are responsible for pollinating about 90% of the world’s food supply. That is a heavy workload. Bees are important for the overall health of our environment and ecosystem.

Thank you bees for your amazing service!
